Preparation of Undergraduate Students for
Careers in Financial Services
In 2016, the Foundation changed focus to: the preparation of first generation, low income and under-represented minority students for careers in financial services, thereby completing the pipeline. We created the CME Group Foundation Scholars program with universities that provide evidence-based support programs for these students, who are majoring in finance, computer Science or applied mathematics. We are partnering with Recruitment to assist these scholars in applying for summer internships at CME.
CME Group Foundation believes that undergraduate students preparing for careers in financial services industries need: a deep understanding of the futures and derivatives field and its uses in risk management; and well- developed quantitative skills. The Foundation also believes that computer science students preparing for careers in financial services need coursework in this area, too.
